Ravished by the Finish
Because of His death, we now have life
The currency of grace, the way of pay
Love stronger than the dark of night
Love more faithful than the rise of day
Sacrificial steps He strained up the hill
Trails of blood and creation's betrayal
His body obedient to the Father's will
Evil was present but His stride would prevail
Heavy hearted, He carried a burdensome cross
Purposed to penetrate his innocent skin
Taking on our shame, our pain, our loss
A life had to end before another could begin
The world resounded the Father's agonizing cry
And yet He still reached down to tear the curtain
Through the blood there is hope for mankind
Our transgressions forgiven, that much is certain
"Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit"
The Son cried out, as He breathed His last
The earth shook, among shadows rock split
To the depths of the sea our sin He cast
Darkness so dark, the enemy had it he won
Ever so pervading, the sun hid from disgrace
Yet a radiant Light would soon overcome
Rising rays of might to His triumphal place
In awe we stand, ravished by the finish
What great love is this that raptures the soul
Enthralled by a Light, no darkness could diminish
Beautiful freedom is ours to behold
